Plus, we'll help you with the next steps on your journey, whether it's helping you book things in other parts of the country, or putting you in touch with other i-SITEs in New Zealand.

We just want to help you enjoy the best of New Zealand’s regions and so you can go home full of good memories of good times. And you’ll get all that advice for free, from friendly teams of locals who know their regions inside-out and are passionate about sharing all New Zealand has to offer.

We are proud to partner with the Department of Conservation (DOC) Visitor Centres

DOC operates a network of visitor centres  located nationwide, most of them in our national parks. They are staffed by DOC rangers who have first-hand, in-depth local knowledge about conservation places and activities. Together i-SITE and DOC work hand-in-hand to provide visitors with the very best advice and assistance.

A little more of the i-SITE story

and why you should visit us

We've been around since 1990, established by what's known today as Tourism New Zealand. The i-SITE brand is proudly managed by Tourism New Zealand, the government entity responsible for attracting high-value visitors to New Zealand. Each year, our network of over 60 i-SITE Visitor Information Centres welcome about 7.6 million visitors.

Each i-SITE is individually locally-owned and operated, giving each one a unique local flavour, tailor-made for their region.

Every person who works at i-SITE is a travel expert for their own  home town, so they can help you to find the sorts of activities, attractions, accommodation and transport that only a local would know. You can be sure that once you have experienced the latest and greatest of what one place has to offer, i-SITE will help connect you with their equally friendly i-SITE colleagues at the next stop on your journey.

So whether you’ve come around the world or down the road you can rely on i-SITE for expert local knowledge and bookings throughout New Zealand.

  • Itinerary planning and information - for today and rest of your holiday.
  • Bookings nationwide and local - accommodation, transport, activities, attractions.
  • Free maps, weather & safety information.
  • Local information - events, places to eat & more!
  • Many i-SITEs offer free Wi-Fi.
  • Most i-SITEs are open every day (except Christmas Day). Some i-SITEs operate reduced hours in off-peak periods.
  • Most i-SITEs have staff who speak multiple languages.

So you like folding paper maps?

So do we!

Every i-SITE can give you a real, folding, paper map of your vicinity with the cool places to go marked on it. You can write notes across it and stick it in your pocket. No battery or Wi-Fi required.

What's more, we've turned this i-SITE finder website into a map too. You can pick up one at any i-SITE or DOC Visitor Centre or just download it and print it on a very big piece of paper.
